1881 Three Cent Nickel Pattern, PR66 Brown1881 3C Liberty Head Three Cents, Judd-1669, Pollock-1870, High R.6, PR66 Brown PCGS. Three cent nickel pattern featuring the head on the obverse similar to that used on the adopted Liberty nickel of 1883. The reverse has a Roman numeral III in the center, surrounded by a wreath of cotton and corn. Struck in copper with a plain edge. About a dozen pieces are known of this pattern in copper, this being the finest certified to date (7/07). This attractive specimen is deeply mirrored and tinged in steel-blue and apricot patina. It is identifiable by a lintmark in the center of Liberty's cheek.
