Description:
Choice 1945 Lincoln Cent, Pollock-2079
1945 1C Lincoln Cent, Pollock-2079, MS64 Brown NGC. Struck from regular issue dies in bronze alloy with a plain edge, but on a thick planchet. 1944 cents are also known on thick stock (Pollock-2078). Pollock lists two known examples, lots 2581 and 2582 from a 9/89 Bowers and Merena auction. These weighed 63.9 and 63.7 grains, instead of the expected 48 grains. The present well struck piece has honey-gold and aqua toning. The obverse rim appears defective at 10 o'clock, as made. (PCGS# 62401)
