Description:
Superb Gem 1922 Peace Dollar
Remarkable Quality, None Finer at PCGS
1922 $1 MS67 PCGS. CAC. The production figure for the 1922 Philadelphia Peace dollar was the largest of the entire series, approaching 52 million pieces in all. Even today, many millions of those coins survive, turning up frequently in well-circulated condition as part of "common" generic silver dollar bags and rolls.
This Superb Gem is a coin of remarkable quality throughout, one of 21 so graded at PCGS with none finer (3/11). The fine-grained, mattelike surfaces show an even mixture of gold and bluish tints along with the prevailing silver-gray, and the strike is extremely sharp on the central high points, if less so around the peripheries. A couple of minor luster grazes on the obverse scarcely dampen the appeal, and only trivial contact marks appear on the lower neck. A marvelous high-grade type or date representative, certified in a green-label holder.
