Description:
Highly Desirable Gem Uncirculated 1924-S Silver Dollar
1924-S $1 MS65 NGC. This piece exhibits a striking characteristic common to many S-mint Peace dollars, i.e., the design details are all present but just not completely brought up. This would indicate that the striking pressure was set too low to show full definition in the centers of each side, where die opposition is greatest. This is a well struck piece for the issue, and the mint luster is bright and frosted. Additionally, there are virtually no abrasions or luster grazes on either side to interrupt the mint frost as it races around each side. Soft reddish-golden patina can be seen over each side and gradually deepens toward the border areas. Census: 59 in 65, 1 finer (3/06).
