Description

1934-D Doubled Die Obverse Dollar
MS66+, VAM-3, Top 50

1934-D $1 Doubled Die Obverse MS66+ PCGS. CAC. VAM-3. A Top 50 Variety. The finest certified example at either leading service. Liberty's profile and GOD WE are clearly die doubled. The variety has been listed in the Guide Book for several years with a sizeable premium. The Medium D mintmark distinguishes VAM-3 from VAM-4, which has a Small D. Of course, any MS66+ 1934-D dollar is desirable, since the typical certified representative of the low mintage issue grades only MS63. Precisely struck and lustrous with only a trace of gold toning. The reverse is essentially immaculate and the obverse has just a few trivial grazes. VAM-3 Population: 4 in 66 (1 in 66+), none finer (6/13). (Variety PCGS# 133780, Base PCGS# 7376)
