Description:
D. Sancho I gold Morabitino (180 Dinheiros) ND (1185-1211AD) Coimbra, Friedberg 1, MS63 PCGS, fully struck with appealing old-time patina. D. Sancho I was the first monarch to strike gold coins essentially making the Morabitino the first Portuguese gold coin. The denomination Morabitino came from the most common Arabic coin that circulated in Arab occupied Europe. It came to substitute the Dinar and gave affirmation to Portuguese sovereignty as well as their economic identity.
