Description:
First-Year 1892 Barber Dime
PR68 Cameo, Ex: Bruce Scher
1892 10C PR68 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Vivid ocean-blue and rose-red patina illuminates this fully struck and pristine first-year Barber dime proof. A tiny planchet flake, as produced, above the N in ONE serves as a pedigree marker. The 1892 has the highest proof mintage of the type; collectors of the day were undoubtedly intrigued by the new silver designs, which had not previously significantly changed for generations. Nonetheless, the 1892 is very rare at the PR68 level. PCGS has certified just two pieces as PR68 Cameo with none finer (2/13).
Ex: Bruce Scher #1 All-Time PCGS Registry Set / Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2005), lot 4052, which realized $12,650.
