Description:
Untoned 1892 Barber Quarter
PR68 Ultra Cameo
1892 25C PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC. Type Two Reverse, left (facing) wing covering most of E in UNITED. The silver-white surfaces on this first-year-of-design coin -- one of the finest from the issue of 1,245 proofs -- display a total lack of perceptible color otherwise, with profound field-device contrast. Any type collector who likes his coins untoned would do well to pause here in a search for the optimal specimen to represent the Barber quarter issue. At PR68 Ultra Cameo, this piece is tied with four other submissions for the finest technical grade and deepest contrast of any 1892 proof quarter at NGC (3/11).

Needless to say I was overwhelmed by the results of the auction and I truly believe it was Jill’s efforts in promoting and displaying the piece that brought in the extra value.
