Description

Colorful PR69 1913 Quarter
Sole Finest Certified for the Issue

1913 25C PR69 NGC. This 1913 Barber quarter, formerly in the memorable John C. Hugon Collection, is in PR69 the sole finest certified of the issue at either service. It is impossible to imagine another 1913 quarter that could approach this coin's technical quality and eye appeal. The fields are deeply reflective with each side covered in rich coloration. The obverse is primarily emerald-green with a smidgen of rose around the margin, while the reverse has bright scarlet-rose toning in the center with an occasional dab of cerulean around the periphery. Not only is this coin the finest 1913 proof quarter known, it also stands as one of the finest proof Barber quarters extant today of any date.
Ex: John C. Hugon Collection / Ft. Lauderdale FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2005), lot 4195.

Another major house refused the work stating it was too unique for the artist. Heritage saw that as an advantage!
