Description

1915 Barber Quarter, PR67
Second Lowest Proof Mintage

1915 25C PR67 PCGS. CAC. The 1915 proof Barber quarter was struck in the amount of 450 proofs, not the absolute lowest of the series but much lower than most, an indication of waning collector interest in the long-lived Charles Barber design. This Superb Gem proof offers delicate gold and iridescent toning enveloping the obverse, contrasting with pale blue and iridescent toning over the reverse. The light contrast is insufficient for a Cameo designation, but this splendid example of the final proof Barber quarter issue is highly appealing. Population: 10 in 67, 2 finer (2/13).
Ex: New York Signature (Heritage, 12/2011), lot 3538, which brought $13,800; Philadelphia Signature (Heritage, 8/2012), lot 5127, which brought $11,750.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 242X, PCGS# 5701)
