Exquisite Near-Gem Proof 1841 Half Cent1841 1/2 C Original PR64 Brown PCGS. B-1, R.6. Die State III. An original striking as evidenced by the large berries on the reverse. Originals are considered R.6 and are among the most desirable of all proof half cents. Some two dozen specimens are believed to exist, perhaps six of these are impounded in museums with another four or five showing signs of circulation. There is a long die crack that runs from stars 3 to the rim above star 7, an indication of the early failure of this die. This is a deeply reflective striking and the surfaces show traces of original mint red color, that being overlaid with attractive blue-brown patina. An exquisite example of this rare proof half cent. EAC PR60+. Population: 6 in 64, 4 finer (7/06).(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 26Z6, PCGS# 1254)
