Rare Original 1841 Half Cent PR65 Brown1841 1/2 C Original PR65 Brown NGC. B-1, R.6. Die State III. Recognized as an original striking by the large berries on the reverse. The diagnostic die crack begins at the border adjacent to star 2, crosses stars 3 through 6 ,and ends at a point on the denticles above star 7. Originals from this year are considered R.6 and are among the most desirable of all proof half cents. Some two dozen specimens are believed to exist, perhaps six of these are impounded in museums with another four or five being impaired in varying degrees. This glassy, wide-rimmed specimen is draped in colorful blue and rose iridescent toning. Census: 5 in 65, 0 finer (3/06). EAC PR60.(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 26Z6, PCGS# 1254)
