1852 1/2 C Restrike, Small Berries PR65 Brown NGC. B-2, R....
Restrike 1852 Half Cent, B-2 Die Marriage1852 1/2 C Restrike, Small Berries PR65 Brown NGC. B-2, R.5. NGC has misattributed this coin as an example of the B-1 die marriage, but it is definitely B-2. The reverse die is that used to coin the First Restrike Half Cents dated 1840-1849 Small Date, as evidenced by the reverse doubling on the letters in CENT (particularly the T) and the ribbon. The otherwise glossy-brown color lightens to orange-brown shades here and there. Both sides are fully detailed, and the only mentionable blemish is a not overly conspicuous spot in the right obverse field. An important representative of a Coronet Half Cent that has not been traced in either business strike or original proof format. (NGC ID# 26ZT, PCGS# 1317)
