Lovely 1855 Half Cent, PR64 Brown1855 1/2 C PR64 Brown PCGS. B-1, C-1, the only known dies, R.5 as a proof. Walter Breen's proof census estimated that 35 to 40 proofs have survived. This lovely piece displays boldly defined design elements and reddish-purple toning with blushes of lime-green and gold-tan. Excellent field to motif contrast is noted when the coin is rotated beneath a light source. Close scrutiny reveals no significant contact marks or hairlines, just a tiny unobtrusive fleck or two.
