1936 Brilliant Finish Nickel, PR661936 5C Type Two--Brilliant Finish PR66 PCGS. CAC. The Philadelphia Mint coined 4,420 proof Buffalo nickels in 1936, with the first type having a satin finish, and the second type featuring a brilliant finish. There are no contemporary records that might tell how many of each were struck. However, in all grades, PCGS has certified 868 Satin Finish pieces, and 886 Brilliant proofs, suggesting that the mintage of each variety was about 2,200 coins. This Premium Gem has faint champagne toning over its fully brilliant light gray surfaces with only a few microscopic carbon flecks. A highly appealing example.(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 278Y, PCGS# 3995)
