Beautifully Patinated Choice Proof 1835 Half Cent1835 1/2 C PR64 Brown PCGS. B-2, C-2, R.6 as a proof. Iridescent apple-green and peach colors alternate throughout this boldly struck near-Gem. Nearly free from contact, however, small marks above the 5 in the date and on the bridge of the nose are mentioned for pedigree purposes. Although the close space between the ST in STATES is usually given as a diagnostic for Cohen-2, perhaps a quicker attribution marker is the berry below the T in UNITED, which is centered between the TE in UNITED for Cohen-1. The 1835 is common as a business strike, but proofs are very rare. PCGS has certified a total of 9 pieces in all proof grades.(#1204) (Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# 26YU, PCGS# 1204)
