Description:
Attractive C-2, B-2 1835 Half Cent
PR64 Red and Brown
1835 1/2 C PR64 Red and Brown NGC. C-2, B-2, R.6 as a proof. Die State I, with no trace of a crack through the ICA in AMERICA. The 1839 was the last half cent issue for which both proofs and business strikes were coined until 1849, and this is similarly the last die pair to see use for both purposes until the latter date. This attractive specimen striking shows generally violet-brown centers with considerable faded reddish-orange at the margins and on the reverse, unusual for this older copper issue. Pleasingly detailed with only a handful of largely inconsequential hairlines visible in the fields. EAC PR63.(Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# 26YU, PCGS# 1205)
