Description

1858 Flying Eagle Cent, PR64
Small Letters, Low Leaves

1858 1C Small Letters PR64 PCGS. The proof mintage of 1858 Small Letters Flying Eagle cents was quite limited, probably no more than 200 pieces. The Small Letters obverse design was used only in 1858, creating a one-year subtype. The proof Small Letters obverse was paired with both the High Leaves and Low Leaves reverses, with this example representing the more available Low Leaves design. The reflective fields of this Choice specimen show highlights of golden brown and lavender. The sharply detailed devices contrast well with the bright fields. Population: 31 in 64, 8 finer (8/10).
