1843 1/2 C RESTRIKE, RB
Near-Gem 1843 First Restrike Proof Half Cent1843 Restrike PR 64 Red and Brown PCGS. First Restrike. The First Restrike coins are characterized by small berries on the reverse wreath and the T in CENT is clearly doubled. A High R.6 coin, only about a dozen pieces are believed extant today. This is undoubtedly one of the finest pieces known, surpassed by only a couple of PR 65s. Some of the original orange-red color is still intact on the reverse with golden-green and red-brown colors overlaying each side. The surfaces have a moderately reflective appearance and show no carbon spots to the unaided eye. (NGC ID# 26Z9, PCGS# 1270)
