Description

1834 PR 64 Red and Brown PCGS. Struck from the earliest state of the only pair of dies used in 1834, there are no clash marks on either side as seen on a few later proofs. This piece was probably struck near the end of the production run for proofs as the fields are shallowly mirrored. The devices show pinpoint definition, though, and both sides retain 20-30% of the original mint luster around the more protected portions of the design elements. An attractive early proof half cent and one of only 18 or so believed to exist today in all grades. (PCGS# 1309)
