Description:
Eight-Piece 1877 Proof Set
Cent Through Trade Dollar
Sold as Individual Lots
1877 1C Cent PR66 Red Cameo NGC. This is a completely matched and complete proof set (including gold) all sold as individual lots, each of the minor coins through Trade dollar grading either PR66 Cameo or PR66 Ultra Cameo. Please also see the 1877 gold coins in our Platinum Night session, ranging from PR65 to PR67 and all designated Cameo or Ultra Cameo.
Generous eye appeal is the hallmark of this key-date 1877 Indian cent, popular in either proof or business-strike format and seldom seen in so fine a grade. The present Premium Gem Red Cameo proof is among the few finest survivors of the original proof mintage of 900 pieces, a complement to the low business-strike production of 852,500 coins. The surfaces display bright, variegated yellow-red color. Considerable field-device contrast is evident on each side, and there are simply no mentionable drawbacks, in terms of either carbon or contact, on this lovely coin. Census: 1 in 66 Cameo, 0 finer (11/12).
