Description

1908 Indian Quarter Eagle, PR67 NGC
None Certified Finer

1908 $2 1/2 PR67 NGC. Bela Lyon Pratt's unusual Indian Head design has inspired discussion about a name for its artistic style. Although some call it an "incuse" design, that is an unacceptable name. The term "Sunken Relief" is also incorrect, as that style applies to a negative image, such as an engraved plate for currency printing. Perhaps a new term, "Pratt Relief," would be understood by all in the numismatic field.
This Superb Gem has a bold strike with finely grained matte surfaces. Both sides are fully brilliant with highly attractive rose and olive patina. An exceptional example. Census: 28 in 67, 0 finer (1/11).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 289G, PCGS# 7957)

I know for a fact that the sale by Heritage was way beyond what I was offered by other people. If I had to do it over again, I would absolutely choose Heritage again.
