Outstanding 1856 Slanted 5 Large Cent, N-5, PR64 Brown1856 1C Slanted 5 PR64 Brown PCGS. N-5, the only known proof dies, Low R.5. John Grellman (2001) suggests this proof-only variety was struck soon after large cent production ceased in 1857. A melange of reddish-tan, gold-brown, and aqua-green adorns exceptionally well preserved surfaces; the only pedigree-marker we can find is an inoffensive mark on the left part of Liberty's neck. A well-executed strike imparts outstanding definition to the design features. Population: 7 in 64 Brown, 0 finer (1/07). EAC 60.(Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 2274, PCGS# 1997)
