1901 $20 PR61 Cameo ANACS....
Flashy Cameo PR61 1901 Twenty1901 $20 PR61 Cameo ANACS. 1901 was the last year that proof gold coinage was available with a frosted, two-toned cameo appearance. Beginning in 1902, proofs exhibit a satiny or semi-brilliant finish. Then the matte finish was in vogue from 1908 through 1915, followed by no proofs of any denomination until 1936. A surprisingly high number (39 pieces) of Cameo proofs have been designated by the two major services in a wide range of grades from PR61 through PR66.
This is a deeply reflective, unmistakable proof striking. The devices show a significant overlay of mint frost which gives the coin its Cameo designation. Numerous small contact marks are scattered over each side, but none are large enough to deserve individual mention. (Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 26EN, PCGS# 89117)
