Rare PR64 Cameo 1892 Eagle1892 $10 PR64 Cameo NGC. The 1892 Ten Dollar was produced to the extent of only 72 pieces. Today, it is estimated that only 20-25 proofs are known in all grades. Like other proofs we have handled from this year, the fields on this piece are very deeply mirrored. A few light hairlines are present but these do not really diminish the intensity of the proof reflectivity on each side. The devices display thick mint frost and seem to float above the watery reflectivity in the fields. Like the 1891 Ten Dollar above, the Ten Dollar from 1892 is the rarest denomination of the year. A curly lint mark in the left obverse field between the bridge of Liberty's nose and star 4 serves as a useful pedigree marker on this important and rarely offered coin. Population: 3 in 64, 1 finer (2/03). (NGC ID# 28FX, PCGS# 88832)
