Description

Attractive PR63 Cameo 1906 Eagle

1906 $10 PR63 Cameo PCGS. Mint records show a total of 77 proofs were produced of this issue. The Breen proof Encyclopedia says: "Date high and too far left, as in 1905. Rare, seldom seen unimpaired and not too often then." The date is indeed entered considerably closer to the front (left) side of the bust truncation than to the rear (right), and on this piece a small dotlike bulge shows on the center of the 9 at its right side. This piece has beautiful green-gold, mirrored fields with frosty devices. A few light hairlines can be seen under a loupe, as well as a few tiny contact marks and a single small dark toning spot in the left obverse field, all of which apparently account for the grade on this nonetheless-attractive and rare piece. Population: 1 in 63 Cameo, 4 finer (7/06).(Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 28GD, PCGS# 88846)
