Description

Gem Cameo Proof 1905 Half Eagle

1905 $5 PR65 Cameo NGC. An unusual Cameo representative of this brilliant-era proof gold issue from the end of the Liberty half eagle series, not specifically frosted on the central devices but with distinct contrast between them and the pale yellow-gold gleam of the smooth fields. Great all-around preservation as the Gem grade implies. This date's proof mintage of just 108 pieces is a marked step down from the 230 specimens struck in 1900 and the mid-100s mintages of earlier years in the 20th century, and it serves as a prelude to the double-digit proof gold production of 1906 and 1907. Census: 6 in 65 Cameo, 3 finer (8/10).(Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 28DB, PCGS# 88500)

Learn about consigning with us

What I most appreciated was how thorough you were when we initially met, how you were conservative in your estimates, not trying to get me to consign by giving false expectations, and then for delivering above and beyond on your commitment to me of a wonderful marketing campaign and a first rate catalog and photos, all of which resulted in a final total price realized that was nicely higher than what you had told me to expect.
