1894 Quarter Eagle, PR67 Ultra Cameo
Only One Certified Finer

1894 $2 1/2 PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC. It is believed that less than half of the 122-coin mintage of proof 1894 quarter eagles survive today. NGC suggests that "no more than 44 examples" are known while PCGS Coin Facts suggests a higher total of about 70 survivors in all grades. The true survival is probably somewhere between those extremes, or about 50 to 60 examples. Many of those survivors are in lower grades or impaired to some degree, and examples at the top grades are extremely rare.
PCGS has never graded a Superb Gem proof with any designation, and NGC has only certified seven examples in PR67 Ultra Cameo, with a single finer piece (11/11). This beauty has delightful light yellow surfaces with extraordinary contrast between the deeply mirrored fields and the boldly defined, frosty yellow devices. Minuscule lint marks, as struck, are evident on the obverse.(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 288H, PCGS# 97920)

I’ve been extremely satisfied with every coin I’ve purchased based on Jim’s recommendation. I can’t imagine building a collection any other way.
