Description

Gem Proof 1902 Quarter Eagle
First Year of All-Brilliant Finish

1902 $2 1/2 PR65 NGC. CAC. The Philadelphia Mint employed an all-brilliant finish on proof issues starting in 1902, eliminating the frosty devices and the popular cameo contrast found on proofs of earlier years. This attractive Gem displays sharp definition in most areas, but star 1 is a little flat. The light yellow and greenish-gold surfaces are free of serious distractions, with just a few minor hairlines showing in the deeply mirrored fields. Outstanding visual appeal complements the high technical grade. From a reported mintage of 193 pieces. Census: 7 in 65, 11 finer (8/12).

If my clients were to auction something of significance, having Mike as the auctioneer would be a deal maker as far as I am concerned.
