Description

1909 Lincoln Cent, PR66 Red and Brown
Rich Red and Lime-Green Surfaces

1909 1C PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. A substantial mintage of 2,342 proofs was struck after the designer's initials were removed from the reverse die. This is an exceptionally attractive 1909 "Plain" cent. The strike shows the expected sharpness, as only seen on proofs. This is especially evident on the squared borders, sharp definition on the bowtie as well as other design features. The surfaces retain a generous amount of original red with substantial lime green also present on each side (perhaps 50%). This is a special 1909 proof cent for the astute buyer who recognizes the value represented by high-grade coins with Red and Brown surfaces. Population: 24 in 66 Red and Brown, 3 finer (1/12).(Registry values: N991) (NGC ID# 22KS, PCGS# 3304)
