Description

Stunning 1879 Morgan Dollar, PR67 Cameo

1879 $1 PR67 Cameo NGC. The year 1879 was an interesting one at the U.S. Mint, as the year was a mixture of long, well-established series -- Indian cents, Seated silver coins, and Liberty Head gold -- recently redesigned series, such as the Morgan dollar, and brand-new series, such as the rare Flowing Hair stellas introduced in this year. The Morgan dollar proof production was a nominal 1,100 coins, and today the average certified survivor is either a Choice or Gem proof. This Superb Gem Cameo example boasts stunning silver-white surfaces lightly kissed with gold, and generous field-device contrast appears on both sides. A small arc of light russet patina appears to the right of the eagle. Census: 13 in 67 Cameo, 3 finer (3/11).
