Description

Well-Preserved 1880 Morgan Dollar
Significantly Toned PR66 Cameo

1880 $1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. From 1878 to 1883, years in which the Philadelphia Mint struck both proof Trade and Morgan dollars, the production of each was comparable year-to-year and higher for the "obsolete" Trade dollar denomination for the first half of that stretch. This 1880 Morgan dollar, one of 1,355 specimens struck, is well-contrasted despite considerable gold-to-gray patina. Where the toning is light, strong reflectivity shines through in the fields and the devices display distinct frost. Carefully preserved with solid definition everywhere but the highest design elements. Population: 18 in 66 (1 in 66+) Cameo, 10 finer (2/13).(Registry values: N4719) (PCGS# 87315)
