1893-CC $1 PR62 Branch Mint PCGS....
Noteworthy PR62 1893-CC Dollar1893-CC $1 PR62 Branch Mint PCGS. VAM-2 with a right-leaning mintmark and a die chip on the central right portion of the 3 in the date. Per Wayte Raymond, only 12 proof 1893-CC silver dollars were struck, to commemorate the end of coinage at the Carson City Mint. In his Morgan and Peace Dollar Textbook, Wayne Miller described an example: "Although some cameo contrast is evident, especially on the reverse, this coin is more brilliant than [a] cameo proof. The fields are deeply mirrored, and the strike is very bold. The piece is an obvious proof at first glance."
Wayne Miller's description is accurate for the present piece as well. It has light peripheral golden-gray and ice-blue toning, and is virtually bereft of contact. The left obverse field has a few faint hairlines. An important opportunity to acquire a rare date Carson City branch proof. Population: 3 in 62, 8 finer (5/08).(Registry values: P8) (NGC ID# 27ZP, PCGS# 7347)
