Description:
Gem Proof 1899 Morgan Dollar
Stunning Cameo Example
1899 $1 PR65 Cameo PCGS. The 1899 proof Morgan dollar is always popular because of its turn-of-the-century date. The proof mintage was about average, at 846 pieces, but the business-strike emission was a paltry 330,000 coins. Accordingly, there has always been a strong date-collector demand for proofs. This spectacular Gem exhibits vivid shades of cobalt-blue and dark green toning at the rims, with mostly brilliant centers. The design elements display razor-sharp definition throughout, and the rich mint frost contrasts profoundly with the deeply mirrored fields. Population: 5 in 65 (1 in 65+) Cameo, 13 finer (11/12).
Ex: Jim S. White Collection (Stack's, 2/1960), lot 804, flip accompanies the lot.
