1921 S$1 ZERBE
One of the Finest Zerbe Proofs Known1921 $1 Zerbe PR 66 NGC. While not of the same quality as the Chapman proofs of 1921, those struck for Farran Zerbe are much more available, some estimate as many as 200 may have been produced. The diagnostic die scratch above the second U in UNUM is faintly visible under magnification, and as reassuring as a diagnostic like that may be it is really not necessary to confirm this coin's proof status. The surfaces are bright and highly lustrous, and as on all Zerbes there is a bit of cartwheel intermixed with the reflectivity in the proof fields. Light, mottled lilac-gray patina covers both sides, but it is so light that at arm's length the coin actually appears brilliant. Population: 4 in 66, 0 finer (7/00).
From the Helen Cookson Collection of 1921 Coinage. (NGC ID# 257A, PCGS# 7341)
