Description:
Highly Regarded 1854 PR 64 Seated Dollar
1854 PR 64 NGC. A rare Seated dollar and seldom seen in any grade as a business strike. Proofs are of the greatest rarity and importance. Apparently, the vast majority of this issue was sent to the Orient to be used as "Trade dollars," and never returned to this country. For these reasons the proofs are needed by modern collectors as they can serve as a substitute for the rare business strikings. Both sides of this choice example are a watery golden-gray with a slight amount of contrast that is limited to the obverse. Population: 4 in 64, none finer (7/97). (NGC ID# 2528, PCGS# 6997)
