Proof 1859 Seated Dollar, An Originally Toned Gem1859 $1 PR65 NGC. Struck from the same obverse and reverse dies as the Silverman proof 1859 Seated Dollar that we are offering in this sale, this coin also displays surfaces that are smooth enough to warrant a Gem rating from NGC. This coin is, however, more extensively toned, with dominant charcoal-gray patina and a well blended swirl of lavender color over the lower left reverse. The more protected areas on the obverse reveal brighter hues at direct angles, and pleasing reflectivity in the fields is also evident as the coin turns under the light. Both sides are fully struck with no distracting hairlines or contact marks to report. (NGC ID# 252D, PCGS# 7002)
