1860 Proof Dollar1860 $1 PR62 PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint delivered 1,330 proof Seated dollars on March 8, 1860, the highest proof figure in the series. The anticipated high demand for these coins did not materialize, and only 527 pieces were eventually sold, the remainder being consigned to the melting pot. This fortunate survivor displays excellent detail, except for weakness in a couple of star centrils along the left (facing) border. Speckles of faint milky-gray color gather over each side, and a multicolored toning spot is visible on the obverse rim at about 8 o'clock. Wispy hairlines occur in the fields, and a couple of trivial obverse contact marks are not distracting.
