Choice Proof 1861 Seated Dollar1861 PR 64 PCGS. Ex: Eliasberg. Much pressure is placed on the importance of proof Civil War dollars as the corresponding business strikes are virtually impossible to find. Medium champagne toning reflects over nicely mirrored surfaces. A few scattered hairlines serve to limit the grade, but do not overly detract from the coin's pleasing, sharp appearance. Population: 9 in PR 64, only 4 finer (4/98).
Ex: Harlan P. Smith Collection (S.H. and Henry Chapman, 5/1906); John H. Clapp (Clapp Estate, 1942); Louis Eliasberg, Sr.; Eliasberg Estate (Bowers and Merena, 4/97), lot 2232. (NGC ID# 252F, PCGS# 7004)
