Sharply Struck Proof 1865 Seated Liberty Dollar1865 $1 PR63 PCGS. The dies that the Mint used to strike this Select quality proof are not those listed by Bowers. The diagnostic of the obverse is: shield point lines up just left of the upright of the 1 in the date. The diagnostic of the reverse is: remnants of an inner circle at the denticles outside the eagle's left (facing) wingtip and the UNIT in UNITED. Both sides of this coin are overlaid in golden-gray and lavender-gray patina with a well placed reverse toning spot in the upper field that conceals a horizontal contact mark. Fully struck with no outwardly noticeable hairlines, this coin should be important for collectors who require a high quality representative of this P-mint delivery. (NGC ID# 252K, PCGS# 7008)
