Description:
Gorgeous 1870 PR67 Quarter
One of Three Finest Certified
1870 25C PR67 NGC. CAC. The 1870 quarter saw a mintage of 1,000 pieces. NGC and PCGS have certified approximately 230 coins, primarily in the PR61 to PR64 grade range. The two services have graded 25 Gems, nine Premium Gems, three MS67 specimens, and none finer.
Gorgeous toning adorns this Superb Gem. Medium intensity cobalt-blue, lavender, and golden-brown coloration resides on the obverse margins, ceding to soft gold in the center, while a subtle blend of light powder-blue and champagne-tan covers the reverse. Exquisitely struck design elements are moderately frosted, and stand out from the mirrored fields. Impeccably preserved throughout.
Ex: Superior Galleries (8/1992), lot 355 (sold from an original 1870 Proof Set).
From The Scott Rudolph Collection.
