Description:
Superbly Preserved 1885 Gem Proof Seated Quarter
1885 25C PR67 PCGS. Sharply struck in the centers with unquestionable originality, the watery surfaces are richly toned in dominant crimson-rose, turquoise-blue, and lime-gold shades. Direct angles reveal multicolored overtones in copper and soft gray shades. The low mintage 1885 was produced to the extent of just 14,350 pieces, 930 coins of which were proofs. A remarkably preserved Superb example. Population: 13 in 67, with a mere two finer.
Ex: Long Beach Signature Sale (Heritage, 6/01), lot 8161, which realized $5,865.
