Description:
1876 Shield Nickel, PR67 Cameo
Magnificent Eye Appeal
1876 5C PR67 Cameo PCGS. Though the 1876 proof Shield nickel is not as famous as its successors, the proof-only 1877 and 1878 issues, the 1876 is elusive in its own way, and certainly far less accessible than its reported mintage of 1,150+ pieces would suggest. Gems and Premium Gems are challenging to locate, and PR67s, of which PCGS has certified only seven and none finer, are highly elusive.
The current PR67 Cameo displays pronounced contrast at all angles. A melange of soft gold, lavender, green, and crimson blushes both sides, and a solid strike imparts full definition to the design features. Close inspection reveals no mentionable marks or spots. These attributes combine to yield magnificent eye appeal, ensuring that this piece will secure a deserving home in a high-grade Shield nickel collection. Population: 5 in 67 Cameo, 0 finer (12/12).(Registry values: N2998) (PCGS# 83830)
