Brilliant Proof 1886 Three Dollar Gold, PR63 PCGS1886 $3 PR63 PCGS. This honey-gold example displays orange tinted accents and suitable reflectivity beneath a light overlay of haziness. True, there are a few hairlines present, but these are small, well scattered, and not overly conspicuous thanks to the toning scheme. As a date, the 1886 Three Dollar is a desirable coin with a mintage of just 1,000 business strikes and 142 proofs. No more than 45 examples of the proof issue are believed extant, some in impaired states of preservation.
