1883 T$1 PR66 Cameo PCGS....
1883 Trade Dollar, PR66 Cameo1883 T$1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. The 1883 Trade dollar, struck to the proof-only extent of 979 pieces, is the last obtainable year for the series, as the 1884 and 1885 are great (and celebrated) rarities that seldom appear at auction. The year 1878 was the last in which coins were struck for circulation, the same year that the Morgan dollar's introduction sealed the series' fate. This Premium Gem Cameo proof example of the 1883 is untoned silver-white on the obverse and beautifully patinated aqua-blue on the reverse, with plenty of field-device contrast appearing throughout each side. The strike is quite bold even if not absolute, showing minor softness on Liberty's hair. The few contact marks that determine the grade are scattered and inconsequential. Population: 10 in 66 Cameo, 2 finer (4/13).(Registry values: N4719) (PCGS# 87063)
