Exceedingly Rare Mint State Peter III RoublePeter III Rouble 1762 СПБ-HК, Bust right / Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date above, Bitkin 11, Diakov 7, milled edge variety, MS63 PCGS. Fully lustrous, and original, with a nice strike for the type. A conditionally rare issue with few known Uncirculated examples. This is the finest piece certified by PCGS, and the only piece certified in Mint State.
Peter III was a short-lived Russian Emperor. Born in Holstein-Gottorp, and raised as a German, Peter was never truly accepted as Emperor and ruled for only six months ending in his assassination, possibly in a conspiracy led by his wife, Catherine II.
