Lightly Abraded for the Grade
The 1929 is the first of a series of scarce dates at the end of the Saint-Gaudens double eagle series. While this issue is the least rare of this group, it is still a coveted date among specialists. Only a minuscule percentage of the nearly 1.8 million pieces minted survived the recall of gold coinage in the 1930s.
