Description

PCGS 1929 MS 64. The 1929 is the first of the end-of-the-series rarities in the Saint-Gaudens series. It is the most obtainable of these issues, but nevertheless, a rare date of which approximately 60 examples may exist in all grades. It is above MS 63 that the 1929 becomes a significant condition rarity with Akers giving MS 64 coins a low R.7 rating. This piece has lovely mint luster and the surfaces are minimally abraded with just a few tiny abrasions scattered about. Population: 25 in 64, only 2 finer. (NGC ID# 26GL, PCGS# 9190)

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
