1839 Dime Struck From a Shattered Obverse Die1839 10C No Drapery AU55 PCGS. Fortin-105b, R.8. Three very heavy bisecting die cracks, from 11, 3, and 7 o'clock, converge above Liberty's knee. Golden-brown and gunmetal-gray colors embrace this well struck and partly lustrous piece. Referring to the present piece, Gerry Fortin states in his website, www.seateddimevarieties.com, "The finest known example of this variety is the Ahwash and Greer plate coin, currently in the collection of Dr. Tim Cook. His seated dime has been graded AU55 by PCGS."
