Description:
Razor Sharp Gem 1840 No Drapery Dime
1840 10C No Drapery MS65 PCGS.
From the Gil Clark Collection. The obverse of this briefly minted type displays Christian Gobrecht's original design for the Seated Liberty Dime, a fact that should endear this coin to both Seated coin specialists and type collectors alike. The 1840 No Drapery is easily the most challenging of the three P-mint issues of the design at the Gem level. This supremely lustrous example displays characteristic exactness of strike and there are peripheral highlights of golden-orange and steel-blue which add immensely to the overall eye appeal. Population: 3 in 65, 7 finer (4/03). (NGC ID# 237Z, PCGS# 4573)
